We built Sakhrani from a shared belief: that Okinawa has something rare to offer the world of whisky.
No one expected a serious whisky to come from Yanbaru. Two women building one did not fit the usual story. But that is exactly why we built it. One of us was born here. One of us chose it as home.
Sabrina spent over two decades in finance and market research, having lived in Rome, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong — building someone else’s vision. What did belong to her was Okinawa: the island she has called home for 27 years.
Ayako is Yanbaru through and through. A fifth-generation daughter raised in one of Okinawa’s most respected distilling families, she grew up with her father’s unwavering belief that a true, world-class whisky could be made right here.
As mothers, we are both building for the next generation. But we are also honouring the generation before us.
Sakhrani is our way of sharing what this island has given us. A whisky from Yanbaru, full of place, memory, and the kind of quiet you choose for yourself.
